Upon closer examination of the new steps the tred height veries from about a foot down to about 8 inches. We determined this to be unacceptable, and probably the cause of Carlyn's injury. We contacted our local RV repair people. They took measurements and ordered a different step. The new steps were installed the tread height is equal from the floor through the bottom step and we have a short portable step to compensate for the varience in ground.
The damage done to the steps on Oklahoma if we would have had any outside mounted lift it would have probably been torn off along with a body panel or two. There is a panel just ahead of the rear wheel that was damaged; the repair is going to consist of straps across the damaged area rather than to try to find another panelo, install, paint, etc.
