January 17, 2013

Today we had the carpets cleaned in the RV.  It was the first time since owning it we had them cleaned.

South of the park is farm and pasture land; over tne past few days there have been a large number of sand hill cranes using it for R & R and have been making lots of noise and flying in huge flocks close by.  Late at night there is a pair of owls talking back and forth across the area.

January 15, 2013

The last time I posted to this blog was July, 27; several things have happened since that post. Carlyn had a tooth that was bothering her and our priority was to resolve that before doing much of anything else. Come to find out the tooth with the infection was cracked, and it was the anchor tooth for a 5 unit bridge; we had it pulled, and the bridge removed; impressions were taken and several weeks were needed for a partial to be made, and fitted. So we just stayed in Polk for the summer. Many meals were eaten with friends, and at the Senior Center much of the time.  Mike spent many mornings drinking coffee with his friends, and riding herd on the city park, doing some mowing, and cleaning the pavilion and restrooms.

We left for Texas before Halloween. The kids were busy and Dallas was having football and a Nascar Rally so didn't stay long! We arrived at Lone Star Corral in Hondo, Texas  November 3rd. Merle and Evelyn came to Honda for a visit. There were a couple items which should be included: we noticed a fluctuation in the oil pressure of the motorhome. Located a mechanic, and a replacement for the oil pressure switch; after it was replaced the pressure read properly, and we were able to travel to Dallas for Christmas with the kids; secondly in mid-November we purchased a new lot we were looking at. It is much closer to the clubhouse. We found dry rot in the building on the old lot, and had it repaired before putting that lot up for sale. The old lot was sold this month.

During our Christmas trip to Dallas we got caught in a snowstorm which caused us to stay for an extra day to avoid the cold and slick roads; but enjoyed watching the kids trying to build a snowman, and throwing showballs; a real treat for them!

This month we have had cold rain, some wind, lots of clouds.  And worst of all the flu was everywhere, we didn't spend much time socializing either in the park, or in Hondo.
