July 27, 2012

Today our high here in Nebraska was in the high 80's rather than the 100's. There has been no rain and the drought continues; in fact, the corn cutters have already arrived and started cutting today. Some of the farmers have been bailing their corn rather than trying to harvest it. I have been seeing many cattle trucks coming through town, which means the farmers are also getting rid of their livestock, too.  Watch for your grocery prices to go up in the near future!

July 18, 2012

Today we went to the York Hospital Hospital to have a new hand brace crafted to replace her old one that doesn't stay put. It took most of the afternoon.
Carlyn has a dentist appointment August 1 to act upon the persistent infection around her tooth we have talked about earlier.
The weather here has been hot, humid but no badly needed rain. All of Nebraska is in a drought right now. The weather is to continue to remain the same into the unforseeable future.

July 12, 2012

On July 3rd Carlyn had a dentist appoint to address a swelling of her gum above the tooth that is an anchor tooth for a five tooth bridge. After x-rays the doctor said she had a crack in the tooth. He gave her a Rx for antibiotics to be taken for a week, and if it doesn't work he will try something else.
July 4th was hot and we just watched the great fireworks on TV. First from New York, then Bostons.
Today - Carlyn had x-rays taken of her foot and she was told it was mending properly, and the only thing was to continue with the ice packs as needed.

June 27, 2012

The weather has turned hot; the only advantage is there isn't any mosquitoes.  We went to York for eye appointments. Our doctor gave us a good checkup, saying she would see us next year unless we see a change in vision.

June 16, 2012

Every year Stromsburg, NE has a Swedish Midsommar festival, This year being their 60th, over the Midsommar weekend. We generally attend, and are attracted to the wonderful smorgasbord served over the lunch hours by customed women. We ate much more than we should, but enjoyed the food, and conversation with table mates we just met, and got aquainted with.
The rest of the day was just hanging out at home.

June 14, 2012

Over the past week Carlyn's foot hadn't improved. We went to her own Doctor, more x-rays were taken along with a Doppler and was again told nothing was broken & to keep up with the ice, and pain medication; but we were given a referral to am ortho doc.
The ortho doc took one look at the x-rays and said a small bone was broken, but there was nothing they were going to do, and to continue our treatment for the next month when she is scheduled for another x-ray.  The news may have not been good but we were relieved to get a definite answer as to why she was continuing to hurt.
We made a couple calls to postpone our regular trip up to Minnesota over the Forth of July, and Carlyn's Birthday. We felt it would be better if we stayed close to the treating doctors location until after the x-rays and treatment in hopefully complete. We have many things to keep us busy.

May 29, 2012

The foot Carlyn hit a couple nights ago was sore and swolen. We called the EMT's and she was transported to the York ER. They took x-rays and determined nothing was broken, but she was told to keep ice on it three times a day, was given a pain medication, and was sent home.

Mike's 50th High School Class Reunion & Banquet
Friday evening everyone gathered at a local restaurant in Fullerton and there were most of the living 29 classmates in attendance. It was a place where more classes, and individuals were also there and we generally had a chance to catchup with the others.
The next evening was the formal gathering at the school with a catered supper and a set program. Twenty-two of our class was there, and we carried our celebration over to a bar downtown. I think a good time was had by all!
When we were back home Carlyn slipped in the bathroom hitting her right foot against the shower.

May 9, 2012

We left on May 5, spent a few days in the Dallas area with oldest son and family before pulling into our summer spot at the Polk City Park after getting fuel. It was an uneventful journey (which is good). And we started to get settled in.

April 19,2012

We try to make sure the motorhome gets started once a month, and this is that day. After letting it run for a few minutes Carlyn said, "I just love that sound." In reference to the sound of the Cummins diesel engine. It shows she is a real traveller.
About twelve days before we get on the road again for the summer. Hope all is well with everyone who reads this.

April 13, 2012

The San Antonio area has dropped back into water restrictions again. We are planning on hitting the road May 2nd.

March 30, 2012

We are sneaking up on the end of March, and many of our friends have already left the park for summer travels, and we are starting to get "hitch itch" and are looking at getting back on the road around May First.
There is a lot we like that's come available, and we are considering trading for it next Fall.
We are pleased the knee brace is giving Carlyn relief and added mobility. Mike is cleaning out the basement compartments of our motorhome and has replaced the drivers side mirror.

March 15, 2012

Upon closer examination of the new steps the tred height veries from about a foot down to about 8 inches. We determined this to be unacceptable, and probably the cause of Carlyn's injury. We contacted our local RV repair people. They took measurements and ordered a different step. The new steps were installed the tread height is equal from the floor through the bottom step and we have a short portable step to compensate for the varience in ground.
The damage done to the steps on Oklahoma if we would have had any outside mounted lift it would have probably been torn off along with a body panel or two. There is a panel just ahead of the rear wheel that was damaged; the repair is going to consist of straps across the damaged area rather than to try to find another panelo, install, paint, etc.

March 10, 2012

The weather has been hospitable with rain every few days. The drought has come to an end and the water restrictions have been completely removed.
A few days ago Carlyn stepped out of the motorhome and jammed her left knee bad enough to need an MRI, and a appointment with an orthopod in San Antonio. He said she had dammaged the meniscus in her knee and she has substancial arthritus damage in her joint. He did suggest we not jump right into repair surgery but see if a brace helps enough that surgery isn't needed.

January 11, 2012

Not much happening in our world. We haven't moved since our last post. Mike made his annual excursion to the VA for his checkup, and will have a spot on his nose looked at later in the month. Been going out to eat more, and more. The weather has been cool and we have had several rains, and a lot of rainy days with nothing much to show in the gauge.
